Tips on Making Dinner for a Diabetic
When someone in the family becomes diabetic, there might be some confusion as to how to cook for them. Family members and friends may scramble to find the latest “sugar-free recipes” and worry that their meal won’t be enjoyed. That’s one reason I wanted to write about cooking for a diabetic during my virtual book tour.
I’ll give you a hint, it’s a lot easier than you thought! Basically, cooking for a diabetic is much like cooking for anyone else. You should have a healthy menu. Most of all, though, be sure to serve plenty of sugar-free beverages. If you’re worried about whether or not you should serve dessert, don’t be. Serve as you normally would. The diabetic will decide if they can eat it or not, based on what their blood sugars have been, what they ate for dinner, and what type of exercise they had that day.
